Accepted Plans

Most patients in the Pine Belt are already covered.

Independent pharmacies process the same major insurance networks that CVS and Walgreens do. The difference is what happens after the claim runs. We tell you the truth about your copay, and we tell you when our cash price beats it.

Medicare

  • Medicare Part D, all national and regional plans
  • Medicare Advantage prescription drug plans (most carriers)
  • Medicare Part B for covered diabetic supplies, immunizations, and select medications

Mississippi State and Federal

  • Mississippi Medicaid (MS Division of Medicaid)
  • Mississippi CHIP
  • Tricare (active duty, retiree, family member, Camp Shelby network)
  • Veterans Affairs Community Care Network

Commercial Plans

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program
  • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • Humana commercial
  • United Healthcare
  • Express Scripts
  • OptumRx
  • CVS Caremark
  • MedImpact
  • Magellan Rx

Manufacturer Coupons and Patient Assistance

  • Manufacturer copay cards for brand name medications (private insurance only, not Medicare/Medicaid)
  • Patient assistance program applications for high cost brand drugs (we help you apply)
  • 340B program pricing for patients of Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative (SEMRHI)
  • Direct manufacturer outreach for non listed brand savings when applicable

Don't see your plan? Call us. We process more than 100 plans nationwide.

Why we don't push GoodRx or SingleCare

Discount cards are a chain pharmacy tactic. Chains inflate their cash price and then let cards like GoodRx, SingleCare, and ScriptSave WellRx offer what looks like a deep discount to drive you to their store. The chain still wins; the card middleman takes a cut; you pay more than you would at an honest independent.

Fairview's cash prices are nationally low to begin with. We do not need to inflate and then discount. If you bring a valid GoodRx coupon, we will run it, but we will also quote our cash price first, and our cash price usually wins. For brand name medications on private insurance, we go directly to the manufacturer and pull copay cards or patient assistance applications. That is the version of "discount" that actually saves you money.

Using Your Insurance at Fairview

Three steps. No surprises at the counter.

01

Tell us your plan when you transfer or refill.

You can give us your insurance card, member ID, or just the name of your plan. If you're not sure what you have, we'll look you up in the network database.

02

We run the claim and quote you both prices.

Insurance copay and cash price. Side by side. Whichever is lower is what you pay. Most pharmacies do not tell you this. We do.

03

Pay the cheaper option. Every time.

Federal law protects your right to know. We just make it easy.

“Sometimes insurance saves you money. Sometimes our cash price is cheaper than your copay. We will always quote you both.”

Dr. Mike Acheampong, PharmD, MPH

Plan Not Listed?

Call us. We probably take it.

The list above covers the plans we process most often. Independents like Fairview actually process more plans than the big chains because we work directly with every PBM. If you have a plan that is not on the list, call us at 601-544-4871 with your member ID number and we will verify network status the same business day. No commitment, no transfer required.

When Insurance Is Not the Better Option

Your copay is not always the cheapest price.

For many generic medications, our cash price is lower than what your insurance copay would be after deductibles, coinsurance, and pharmacy network fees. Consumer Reports found independent pharmacies offered the same five generics for $107 cash, while the most expensive chain charged $928. That is the difference between an independent that quotes both prices and a chain that does not.

We will run your insurance and quote our cash price on every fill. You pay whichever is lower.

Common Questions

Things patients ask us every week.

Do I have to switch pharmacies if my insurance has a preferred network?

Federal patient choice laws and Mississippi HB1612 (2024) protect your right to use any in network pharmacy. PBMs cannot force you into a mail order or chain pharmacy. If your plan claims you must use a specific chain, call us and we will help you resolve it.

What if my plan covers brand name only and you do not stock the brand?

We can order any FDA approved medication. Brand orders are typically same day or next business day. We will call you the moment it arrives.

Will my prescription history transfer with my insurance?

Yes. When we transfer your prescription from CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, or any other pharmacy, your insurance information and refill history come with it. You do not lose your refills, your dates, or your coverage continuity.

How do I know if Fairview is the cheapest option for my medication?

Submit a quote request on our Price My Rx page. Dr. Mike personally pulls your price, usually within 30 minutes during pharmacy hours. We will tell you our cash price, your insurance copay, and which one is lower. Zero obligation to fill with us.

Do you bill secondary insurance?

Yes. We coordinate primary, secondary, and supplemental coverage including spousal plans, Medicare Part D with Medigap, and employer plans alongside Medicare.

What about HSA and FSA cards?

We accept all HSA and FSA cards for eligible prescriptions and OTC items. Most of our wellness kits and OTC products are HSA and FSA eligible. Ask us at checkout or look for the HSA/FSA tag on product pages.

Do you accept VA prescriptions?

We accept VA Community Care Network prescriptions for eligible veterans. If you have a VA referral or your VA provider has authorized community pharmacy use, we can fill it.

I have Medicaid in another state. Can you still fill my prescription?

Out of state Medicaid is complicated and varies by state. Call us with your card and we will verify whether your home state Medicaid pays out of state. If not, our cash price on most generics is often lower than you would expect.
