Important warning

What is carvedilol for?
- It treats heart failure and high blood pressure. Certain patients also receive it after a heart attack. It slows the heart and relaxes blood vessels.
Should I take it with food?
- Yes. Taking it with food helps reduce a sudden blood-pressure drop when standing. Follow your prescribed times.
Are the tablet and long-acting capsule the same schedule?
- No. Standard tablets are usually taken twice daily; extended-release capsules once daily in the morning. Do not switch schedules or products yourself.
What if I miss a dose?

Can I open an extended-release capsule?
- Do not crush or chew it or divide its contents into separate doses. Some products allow the full contents to be sprinkled on applesauce. Ask your pharmacist to demonstrate the exact instructions before doing so. Extended-release capsule label
What should I watch for?

What should my pharmacist check?
