What it is
- A strong IV antibiotic for serious skin and bloodstream infections.
- Given over a set treatment course, sometimes at home.
It does NOT treat pneumonia
- If I was told I have pneumonia and am on daptomycin,
- I ask my care team about it right away.
Watch my muscles
- Report any new muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness right away.
- Emergency: severe muscle weakness with dark, tea-colored urine.
Later in treatment
- Watch for new fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
- Often around week 4. Get help right away.
If I infuse at home
- Warm the dose to room temperature on its own. Never microwave it.
- Check the label and the bag before every infusion.
- Keep every CPK and kidney blood draw appointment.

- If I take a statin or warfarin.
- Any question: call Fairview, even if a service runs my IV.
