Taking it right
- Take it twice a day, about 12 hours apart.
- Same two times every day.
- Never take two at once.
If I miss a dose
- Same day: take it when I remember.
- Almost time for the next one: skip the missed dose.
- Never double up. If unsure, call Fairview.
Stay away from
- Advil, Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen, naproxen.
- Aspirin, unless my doctor said to take it.
- For pain, use Tylenol. Ask the pharmacist first.
Call the doctor if
- Large or strange bruising.
- Pink, red, or dark brown pee. Black or tarry stool.
- Coughing or throwing up blood. Dizzy or very weak.
Emergency. Go to the ER
- I fall or hit my head, even if I feel fine.
- Bleeding that will not stop after 10 minutes of pressure.
- Sudden bad headache, trouble seeing or talking.
- Tell them: "I take Eliquis, apixaban."
Before surgery or the dentist
- Tell them I take Eliquis.
- Call my doctor for a stop and start plan.
- Never stop on my own.
