Taking it right
- One pill, once a day, usually the morning.
- With or without food.
- Swallow the pill whole.
If I miss a dose
- Same day: take it when I remember.
- Almost time for the next one: skip it.
- Never two at once.
Before surgery and sick days
- Major surgery: usually stop about 3 days before.
- Bad sick day, cannot keep fluids down: call Fairview.
- Always tell my surgeon I take Farxiga.
Expected
- Urinating a bit more.
- A urine sugar test reads positive. That is normal.
- Yeast or urinary infections can happen. Treatable.
Emergency. Go to the ER
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, trouble breathing,
- even if my blood sugar looks normal.
- Genital or rear pain and swelling with fever.
