Can I swallow it with juice?
- Use water. Apple, orange and grapefruit juices can reduce absorption; do not use fruit juice to take it.
Can I take my antacid at the same time?
- Avoid taking aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids close to fexofenadine. Ask the pharmacist to set the spacing for your products.
Is every Allegra product once daily?
- No. Strength, formulation and age change the directions. Follow your exact label.
Does the form change how I take it?
- Shake suspension before measuring with a medicine device. Peel dissolving tablets from the foil with dry hands just before use; let them dissolve on your tongue. Check your product's food instructions. MedlinePlus
What if I miss a dose?
- For scheduled use, take it when remembered unless the next is nearly due; then skip it. Never double. MedlinePlus
What should the pharmacist check?
- Mention kidney disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding and the child's age. Headache, nausea or drowsiness can occur. Do not add another antihistamine without advice. MedlinePlus
When is it urgent?
- Severe breathing trouble or tongue/throat swelling needs emergency help. Fexofenadine is not emergency treatment for a severe allergic reaction. MedlinePlus
