My mealtime doseYour pharmacist or doctor fills this in.
Taking it right
- Check the label: U-100 or U-200, my exact device.
- Inject within 15 minutes before eating, or right after the meal.
- Be ready to eat when I dose.
- New needle and 2 unit prime every time. Count to 5 after zero.
Never do this
- Never transfer U-200 from a pen to a syringe.
- Never share the pen, even with a new needle.
- Never double or stack doses.
If I miss a dose
- Check my glucose.
- Use my written late meal or correction plan.
- Do not automatically take the full missed dose.
Low blood sugar
- Signs: shaking, sweating, hunger, fast heartbeat, confusion.
- Awake and able to swallow: 15 grams fast carbohydrate, recheck in 15 minutes.
- Cannot swallow or passed out: glucagon, side position, call 911.
Call the doctor or pharmacist if
- Repeated lows I cannot explain.
- Highs that stay up despite my correction plan.
- Any wrong insulin or wrong dose error, even if I feel fine.
- New lumps or pits at injection sites.
Storage
- Unopened: refrigerate. Do not freeze.
- Pen in use: room temperature, discard after 28 days.
- Never leave it in the car.
