Mixing it right
- Empty the packet into a glass with 3 tablespoons or more of water.
- Stir well, the powder does not dissolve.
- Drink right away, add water, finish it all.
The 2 hour rule
- All my other oral medicines:
- at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after Lokelma.
- This is 2 hours. Veltassa uses 3. Do not mix them up.
If I am on dialysis
- Take Lokelma only on my non-dialysis days.
- Not on a dialysis day.
If I miss a dose
- Take it as soon as I remember.
- Next dose almost due: skip it.
- Never two at once.
Call the doctor if
- New or worsening swelling in legs, ankles, or feet.
- Muscle weakness, cramps, or a fluttering heartbeat.
Good to remember
- No potassium supplements or potassium salt substitutes.
- Tell my doctor if I have heart failure. Lokelma carries sodium.
