Taking it right
- Injection: once a week, same day, with or without food.
- Tablet: every morning, empty stomach, plain water only.
- Tablet: wait at least 30 minutes before food or other medicines.
If I miss a dose
- Injection: take it within 5 days, or skip if later.
- Tablet: skip it, take the next one tomorrow.
- Never double up.
Watch my glucose
- Low sugar risk is higher with insulin or a sulfonylurea.
- Check glucose more often when sick or vomiting.
Call the doctor if
- Neck lump, lasting hoarseness, or trouble swallowing.
- Repeated vomiting, dizziness, or very little urine.
- New vision changes, or upper belly pain with fever.
Emergency. Go to the ER
- Severe steady belly pain that may travel to the back.
- Trouble breathing or swelling of the face or throat.
- Severe low blood sugar with seizure or passing out.
Before surgery or anesthesia
- Tell every procedure team I use Ozempic.
- Tell them the form I use and my last dose time.
- Follow their plan. Do not stop or restart on my own.
