Mixing it right
- Empty the packet into about a third cup of water.
- Stir, drink right away, add more water, finish it all.
- Never dry. Never hot. Room temperature water only.
The 3 hour rule
- All my other oral medicines:
- at least 3 hours before or 3 hours after Veltassa.
- When in doubt, keep the gap. Ask the pharmacist.
If I miss a dose
- Same day: take it when I remember.
- Next day already: skip it, take my normal dose.
- Never two doses in one day.
Storing it
- Keep it in the refrigerator.
- Room temperature is okay for up to 3 months, then discard.
Call the doctor if
- Muscle weakness, cramps, or a fluttering heartbeat.
- Constipation that gets worse or will not ease.
Good to remember
- No potassium supplements or potassium salt substitutes.
- Veltassa is not an emergency treatment.
