Taking it right
- Take it at the same time every day.
- If I take the 15 mg or 20 mg size, take it with a real meal.
- Swallow tablets whole.
If I miss a dose
- Do not guess. The rule depends on my dose.
- Call Fairview and ask what to do.
- Never double up unless told it is safe for my dose.
Stay away from
- Advil, Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen, naproxen.
- Aspirin, unless my doctor said to take it.
- St. John's Wort. For pain, ask about Tylenol.
Call the doctor if
- Bleeding that is unusual or will not stop.
- Pink or brown pee. Red, black, or tarry stool.
- Coughing or throwing up blood. Dizzy or weak.
Emergency. Go to the ER
- I fall or hit my head, even if I feel fine.
- Severe bleeding, or bleeding that will not stop.
- Sudden headache, trouble seeing, talking, or one-sided weakness.
- Tell them: "I take Xarelto, rivaroxaban."
Before surgery or the dentist
- Tell them I take Xarelto.
- Call my doctor for a stop and start plan.
- Never stop on my own.
