Who It's For

Three situations where adherence packaging changes everything.

Patients on 5 or more chronic medications

Cholesterol, blood pressure, thyroid, diabetes, mood, sleep. When the count gets above five, the pillbox stops being a reliable system. Adherence packaging restores reliability.

Caregivers of an aging parent

You're the one keeping the medication schedule straight from two states away. Adherence packaging gives the parent a clear daily routine and gives you visibility through caregiver text alerts.

Anyone with a complex schedule

Morning, midday, evening, bedtime. Some pills with food, some without. Adherence packaging codifies the schedule into a physical packet you can't accidentally combine or skip.

“The single biggest cause of preventable hospital readmissions in people over 65 is medication non adherence. Not the wrong medication, not the wrong dose. People not taking what they were prescribed because the schedule got too complicated. Adherence packaging solves that with paper, plastic, and labels. It is the most clinically valuable service a pharmacy can offer to a complex patient. We make it free for the patients who need it most.”

Dr. Mike Acheampong, PharmD, MPH

Common Questions

What patients and caregivers ask before they start.

How is adherence packaging different from a pillbox?

A pillbox requires someone to refill it correctly every week. Adherence packaging is assembled by the pharmacy. Each day's doses come in sealed, labeled compartments printed with the date and time. You (or your parent, or a home health aide) just open the right pouch for that morning, evening, or whatever the schedule is. No counting, no second guessing, no running out.

Will my doctor approve adherence packaging?

Yes. We coordinate with prescribers directly. Most physicians strongly support adherence packaging for patients on 5 or more medications because it improves compliance, which is one of the leading clinical concerns in older adults. If your physician has specific instructions about timing or fasting requirements, those go on the package label.

Can vitamins and OTC supplements go in the pack?

Yes. Once we know what you take, we can include vitamins, supplements, and OTC medications in the same daily packets as your prescriptions. One pouch, everything for that morning or evening. Many patients tell us this is the moment compliance actually improves.

What does adherence packaging cost?

Included at no charge for Hub City Family Plan members. Included at no charge for any Fairview prescription patient on 5 or more chronic medications. For patients on fewer medications, contact us for pricing. The packaging itself is a service we offer; the medications inside are billed against your insurance or paid out of pocket at our standard prices.

What if my prescription changes mid pack?

We handle it. New prescription? We absorb it into the next pack and update the schedule. Discontinued medication? We pull it from the upcoming pack. Dose change? We update the labeling immediately. You get a text whenever the schedule changes.

Can I cancel adherence packaging?

Yes. Anytime, no fees. Your medications go back to standard vial dispensing. We recommend talking with us first because the most common reason patients want to cancel is a misfit in the schedule, which we can usually fix in a single phone call.

How do you handle controlled substances?

Schedule II controlled substances (oxycodone, Adderall) are dispensed in their own DEA compliant containers per federal regulation, not in the blister pack. Schedule III, IV, and V controlled substances can be included in the pack with proper labeling and your prescriber's authorization. We walk through this at setup so the workflow is clear.

Stop counting pills. Open the right pouch.

Tell us your medication list. We'll assemble the first pack and have it ready within 3 business days.
