Is it the same as amoxicillin?
- No. It also contains clavulanate, which helps protect amoxicillin from certain bacterial defenses. The products are not interchangeable.
When should I take it with food?
- Take it at the start of a meal to improve tolerance and clavulanate absorption.
Does the liquid go in the refrigerator?
- Yes. Refrigerate mixed suspension and discard it after 10 days. Follow the pharmacy's discard date.
Can I switch strengths or use leftover medicine?
- No. Products can contain different proportions of the two ingredients. A different tablet count or liquid concentration may not provide the same treatment. Have the pharmacist check any replacement. Use only the medicine and course prescribed for this infection. Tablet label, formulation differences
How do I measure liquid, and what if I miss a dose?
- Shake the bottle and use an oral syringe or marked medicine measure, not a kitchen spoon. Take a missed dose when remembered unless the next is nearly due; then skip it. Do not double. Follow the full prescribed course unless your clinician changes it. It does not treat colds or flu. MedlinePlus
What side effects need help?
- Contact your clinician promptly for severe or bloody diarrhea, including after treatment ends. Yellow skin or eyes or dark urine also needs prompt advice. Trouble breathing, throat swelling or a severe blistering rash needs emergency care. Product label, warnings
What should I mention before starting?
