Is this an as-needed rescue medicine?
- Follow the regular schedule prescribed for you. Benefit develops over time; do not take extra tablets to try to stop a sudden panic episode.
Should I take it with food?
- Either way can be used, but be consistent: always with food or always without it.
What if I forget a dose?
- Take it when remembered unless the next dose is nearly due. Then skip it. Do not double up.
What should I expect at first?
- Dizziness, nausea or headache may occur. Avoid alcohol, and wait to drive until you know how it affects you. It may take several weeks to reach an effective regimen. Do not increase the dose yourself. MedlinePlus
Which interactions matter?
- Tell the pharmacist about antidepressants, linezolid, methylene blue, supplements and liver/kidney problems. MAOI antidepressants require a 14-day separation in either direction; do not manage that switch yourself. Avoid large amounts of grapefruit or grapefruit juice. When should I get medical help?
- Fever with agitation, confusion, muscle stiffness or twitching may signal serotonin syndrome and needs urgent assessment. Severe breathing trouble or throat/facial swelling requires emergency help. Buspirone labeling
