Hydrochlorothiazide, often shortened to HCTZ, treats high blood pressure and certain causes of fluid retention.
Will I urinate more?
It is a diuretic, or water pill, that helps the kidneys remove salt and water. Ask about timing if bathroom trips disrupt sleep.
Should I start a potassium supplement?
Do not start one on your own. The right plan depends on blood tests, kidney function and your other medicines.

How do I take it and handle a missed dose?

Why are blood tests important?
