What is losartan for?
It treats high blood pressure. Certain patients also receive it for kidney protection in type 2 diabetes or to reduce stroke risk with specific heart findings.
Does it need food?
No. It can be taken with or without a meal. Follow the times on your prescription label.
Can I use a potassium salt substitute?
Check first. Losartan can raise potassium, so supplements and potassium-containing salt substitutes may be unsafe for you.

How does it work?
Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker, or ARB. It blocks a signal that tightens blood vessels. The full blood-pressure benefit can take several weeks. Keep taking it as directed even when you feel well. MedlinePlus

Which symptoms should I report?
