Does it need food?
- Capsules and liquid can be taken with or without food. Extended-release tablets are taken after the evening meal and swallowed whole.
Can I drive after taking it?
- Wait until you know its effects. Dizziness and sleepiness can impair driving; avoid alcohol and discuss other sedating medicines.
Can I stop once I feel better?
- Do not stop suddenly. The prescriber should arrange a gradual reduction, generally over at least a week, because withdrawal and seizures can occur.
What if I miss a dose?
- For capsules or liquid, take the dose when remembered unless the next is nearly due; then skip it. For extended-release tablets, a missed evening dose can be taken at bedtime after a snack. If missed then, take it after breakfast. If breakfast is also missed, resume after the next evening meal. Never double. Confirm your formulation first. MedlinePlus
What should the pharmacist check?
- Kidney function affects the dose. Mention opioids, sleep medicines, lung disease, heart failure, swelling, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Combining pregabalin with other medicines that slow breathing can be dangerous. Never share it. Lyrica labeling

- Get emergency help for slow or difficult breathing, inability to wake, or swelling of the face, tongue or throat. Report new vision problems, swelling or mood changes promptly. Thoughts of self-harm need immediate help. Lyrica labeling
