The real story behind this product

What chain pharmacies never explain.

Psyllium is not a laxative in the conventional sense. It is a soluble dietary fiber derived from the husk of Plantago ovata seeds. When mixed with water and consumed, psyllium absorbs liquid and forms a thick, gel like mass in the intestines. That gel does three clinically valuable things.

For constipation: The gel adds bulk and moisture to stool, making it softer and easier to pass. Gentle, predictable, no cramping. For diarrhea: The same gel absorbs excess water in the intestines, adding structure to loose stool and slowing its transit. This is the counterintuitive power of psyllium: it normalizes stool consistency in both directions, making it the only laxative class product that a patient with irregular bowel habits (sometimes constipated, sometimes loose) can take daily with benefit in either direction.

For cholesterol: The FDA has approved a specific health claim for psyllium that diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 7 grams of soluble fiber per day from psyllium husk may reduce the risk of heart disease. The gel traps bile acids in the intestines, bile acids are synthesized from cholesterol, and excretes them. The liver must use more cholesterol to replace the lost bile acids, lowering blood LDL cholesterol.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in America. Many patients taking statins could lower their LDL further with daily psyllium fiber. Very few know this.

Dr. Mike's clinical commentary
Psyllium fiber is the supplement I recommend most consistently across all patient types, not because it's exciting, but because it works at multiple levels simultaneously and is safe for essentially everyone. The cholesterol effect is real and clinically meaningful: 7 grams of soluble fiber daily can reduce LDL cholesterol by 5 to 10 percent in consistent users. For patients on statins, that additional reduction matters. For IBS patients, whether they trend constipated or diarrheal, psyllium is the first recommendation before any prescription intervention. Drink it immediately after mixing. It gels fast and becomes very thick if you wait. And always follow with a full second glass of water.

Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

Is the generic really the same as the brand?

Yes, by FDA requirement. Generic medications must contain the same active ingredient, at the same dose, in the same form, with the same route of administration as the brand name product. The FDA's bioequivalence standard requires generics to perform within 80 to 125 percent of the brand's absorption profile. Same active ingredient is not a marketing claim. It's a regulatory fact.

How soon will my order ship?

Orders ship within 1 to 2 business days from our pharmacy in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. You'll receive a tracking number once your package leaves the pharmacy. Free shipping on orders over $50. Kit purchases skip the $50 minimum entirely.

What is your return policy?

Unopened products in their original sealed packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund. For safety reasons, opened medications are not returnable. If something arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us within 7 days and we'll make it right.

Can I take this with my prescription medications?

Many OTC gut products interact with common prescriptions, particularly thyroid medication, blood thinners, certain antibiotics, and other PPIs. We strongly recommend a free pharmacist consultation before ordering if you take any prescription medication. Call us at the pharmacy. Free consultation, no appointment.

Is this safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Gut products vary significantly in pregnancy safety. Simethicone, calcium carbonate, and psyllium fiber are generally considered safe across all trimesters. PPIs (omeprazole) and Pepto-Bismol require physician guidance during pregnancy. Loperamide and laxatives should be discussed with your OB. Before ordering during pregnancy or breastfeeding, please request a free pharmacist consultation.

One product is good. The kit is the protocol.

Dr. Mike doesn't hand patients single products. He hands them protocols. The Fairview Regularity Foundation Kit is the full version of what most people need. And it skips the $50 minimum.
