What Students Need Most

Four things we make easier.

Dorm and Apartment Essentials

Kits for the situations that always happen at 11pm.

Pharmacist curated, delivered to your address, far cheaper than running to a chain when you already feel terrible.

“Students are some of our best patients. Smart, busy, and prone to running out of important medication during finals because nobody told them how the refill process works in Mississippi. We treat students like the adults they are. Honest information, fast answers, no judgment.”

Dr. Mike Acheampong, PharmD, MPH

Student Questions

Common questions, answered plainly.

Can I keep my hometown pharmacy and also fill at Fairview?

Yes. You can have prescriptions filled at two pharmacies. Many students transfer only the medications they need locally (mental health, ADHD, asthma) and leave the rest at home. We coordinate so your medications stay synced and refills do not duplicate.

Is Fairview close to campus?

We are at 500 Katie Ave in Hattiesburg. About a five minute drive from USM's main campus, less than ten from William Carey, and convenient to Pearl River Community College's Forrest County Center in Hattiesburg. We offer free same day delivery to dorms, apartments, and the rest of the Pine Belt during pharmacy hours.

Can I get birth control at Fairview?

Yes. Two paths. First, transfer your existing hormonal birth control prescription from your hometown pharmacy and we fill it locally. Second, if you do not currently have a prescription, Mississippi pharmacists are authorized to prescribe hormonal contraceptives directly under specific protocols. That means Dr. Mike can prescribe and fill in the same visit, no separate doctor's appointment required. Confidential, quick, and HIPAA protected like every prescription. Walk in to ask, or call us first.

What if I'm an out of state student?

Most prescriptions can be transferred from any state to Mississippi as long as the prescriber is licensed in their state. Schedule II controlled substances (Adderall, certain ADHD medications, etc.) have specific rules; we walk you through those individually.

Do you accept my parents' insurance?

We process all major commercial insurance plans including BCBS, United, Cigna, Aetna, and Humana. Most students under 26 are still on parental insurance and we process those claims normally. If you have student health insurance (USM, William Carey, PRCC, etc.) we accept that too.

How does ADHD medication work for students?

ADHD medications like Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, and Ritalin are Schedule II controlled substances with specific dispensing rules. Your prescriber must send a new prescription each month (no refills allowed on Schedule II in Mississippi). We typically have it ready within 24 hours of receipt. You must show ID at pickup. Plan ahead during exam weeks and breaks.

Can my parents call about my medications?

Only with your authorization. Once you turn 18, you control who has access to your pharmacy records under HIPAA. If you want a parent or partner to be able to discuss your medications with us, we set up the authorization at your request. You can revoke it any time.
