Schedule MTM“Senior care is where pharmacy actually earns its keep. A 78 year old on 11 medications from three different doctors needs someone whose job is to make sense of the whole picture. That is the pharmacist. We have built Fairview around this. Adherence packaging, free MTM, Medicare reviews, caregiver coordination. None of it is glamorous. All of it matters.”
Common Questions
Senior care questions, answered plainly.
I'm on 8 medications. How do I keep them straight?
Two options that solve this for most patients. (1) Adherence packaging, where we sort every dose into a tear off pack labeled by day and time. You take what's in the pack at the time printed on it. (2) Medication Therapy Management, where we sit down for 30 to 60 minutes and review whether you actually need all 8 medications. Most patients on this many medications discover at least one that can be reduced or eliminated. Both services are free for Medicare patients and most commercial plans.
Can my adult child manage my prescriptions on my behalf?
Yes, with your authorization. We set up caregiver access where your designated family member can refill, transfer, and discuss your medications with us via text, email, or phone. They can have prescriptions delivered to their address if they handle pickup. We follow HIPAA strictly and only grant access at your explicit request.
What if I miss a dose or take the wrong medication?
Call us right away at the number on your bottle, day or night. If we're closed and it's a genuine emergency (overdose, serious allergic reaction, or major medication error), call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or go to the ER. For non emergencies like a missed dose, we can usually tell you exactly what to do based on the medication and timing.
How does the Medicare Part D review work?
Free to anyone, 30 minutes total. We get 10 to 15 minutes with you on the phone to confirm your medication list and any anticipated changes. Then on our own time we run every available Part D plan in your county against your medications and project your annual out of pocket. We follow up within 1 to 2 business days with a one page comparison. You decide. If you want help enrolling, we walk you through it. Open enrollment is October 15 to December 7 each year.
Can you handle my parent's medications even if I live out of state?
Yes. We have caregivers in Texas, California, New York, and across the Southeast managing parents' care here in Hattiesburg. We text or email refill reminders, deliver to the parent's address, and copy you on important updates. You handle the family. We handle the pharmacy.
What about durable medical equipment and diabetic supplies?
We stock common diabetic supplies (test strips, pen needles, lancets) and bill insurance for them. For larger DME items (CPAP, walker, hospital bed, etc.), we refer to a partner supplier in the Pine Belt. They handle the equipment; we handle the medications.
