Tiger Balm has been made since the 1870s, using a formula rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that combines camphor, menthol, cajuput oil, clove oil, and cassia oil. The White formula is the milder, cooling counterpart to Red. Where Red brings deep heat for arthritis, White brings cooling relief for headaches, mild aches, insect bites, and sinus congestion.
For tension headaches, applying a pea sized amount to the temples and the base of the skull provides relief that often outperforms oral medication. The cooling sensation calms the muscular and vascular components of headache pain in a way that surprises people the first time they try it.
